I have literally never seen them or used them. Especially when weighed up against their cost & time to train.
Right now (despite wanting to use guns) I am fielding a lot of Dark Elf Repeater Crossbowmen, and they really do seem to be massively effective. I have a couple and they seem like nasty buggers, but I worry that their effectiveness vs shields and heavily armoured enemies may be a bit limited. Looking into using the top tier Tomb Lord troops (forgot the name) and the Dwarf Longbeards(?) as possible replacements, but curious to know if there are better. It works fairly well, but the Empire Captains seem to work more as disposable meat than a worthwhile mainstay. Right now I'm using Empire captains as my mainstay with about half as many White Lions for extra punch. While cavalry is an extreme force modifier and makes it much easier to win vs tough odds, I much prefer using infantry only. Second, who are the baddest motherfucker infantry troops I can get (excluding Ogre mercs and special troops like Warrior Priests)? I'm guessing Skaven are accurate while pirates are weight of fire, and Empire are just meh. Is it just Empire, Skaven & Pirates? If so, of the 3, do any of them excell in a specific area (like ranged accuracy/rate of fire).
