Maybe I was remembering things the way I wish they had been Namely that S&N would open silently without that ding-dong annoying notification obscuring my screen and hanging around for way too long. I remembered Snip & Sketch opening on its own, without my having to click on the notification but in fact it requires that interaction. More troubling is the fact that my memory of the workflow was fuzzy. I must have turned them off and forgotten about it. Windows 10 - Automatically open Snip & Sketch editor after using snipping tool with Win+Shift+S - Super UserYou're right-I had notifications disabled. This matches your experience if in fact you are comparing the behaviour of the previous Snipping tool: Take a Screen Snip with Snip and Sketch in Windows 10 The behaviour you're describing seems exactly as expected, except you don't get the notification- maybe you have that notification disabled.

I did some digging and have found the same issue being reported in various other forums, but none of the solutions presented so far have worked for me. I need it to work from without using a keyboard shortcut.

Initiating the screen capture from within S&S loads the image into the editor but that, of course, is entirely beside the point. Now When I hit +Shift+S the overlay appears and the screenshot is captured to the clipboard but Snip & Sketch doesn't open, and there is no notification (well, thank goodness for that, anyway). Snip & Sketch would open and I'd carry on from there.I'd capture what I needed (and curse aloud at the unbelievably-intrusive notification ).I'd press +Shift+S and the screenshot overlay would appear. That is to say it went something like this:

Snip & Sketch was working nominally up until sometime recently.
